Discussion
There is a lot of discussion around the value of essential oils and their uses. Are they right for you? Do they actually do anything to help your wellbeing.? Why are they so expensive? Should I use them on my children etc..etc? I have done some research on them and these are my findings.... The essential oils are the aromatic, natural chemical compounds extracted from various parts of a plant: leaves, flowers, stems, roots, bark, etc. They are in such a potent form that a single drop of essential oil can equal multiple teaspoons of the dried herb (for instance, 1 drop of peppermint oil equals more than 25 cups of peppermint tea and oils can be up to 70x more potent than their dried herbal form). This means less is more . You can use essential oils aromatically, and topically, as well as internally (depending on the brand, the oil, and the results you're seeking) Isn't this just placebo you may well ask! No, it's chemistry. And it has a growing list of research to back it up, as well as more doctors, hospitals, and healthcare providers promoting it as a natural means to help their patients meet their goals without side effects. But the remarkable uses of essential oils can only be maximized when purity is involved. Since quality regulations are virtually non-existent, knowing where your oils come from and how they are created is crucial to ensuring safety and effectiveness. What are your thoughts? Share some stories of your experiences with oils and how you use them.
